2026-05-20

Are you thinking of starting a weight loss plan?

This book on the "cocktail diet" contains only one sentence:

It works great!

"Cocktail weight loss therapy" is a "hybrid weight loss therapy" that combines "exercise prescription", "change of eating habits" and "drug therapy". It is tailored to each obese patient's specific situation to make a weight loss method suitable for them.

Since developing the "cocktail weight loss therapy" and successfully helping many people lose weight, Dr. Liu Boen's clinic is always packed. However, Dr. Liu frankly points out that the most basic spirit of his cocktail weight loss therapy is still "DIY".

The purpose of this book is to simplify Dr. Liu Boen's cocktail weight loss therapy into something that can be easily DIYed. Generally, people who are struggling with obesity can easily achieve their weight loss goals by following the weight loss guidelines already laid out in the book.

In this book, you won't find any impossible tasks, because many complicated health and weight loss issues have been simplified into clear forms; you just need to follow the steps to fill them out. Most importantly, it helps you identify your own obesity problems, allowing you to understand yourself better and know more about how to improve your physique.

Identify the problem, use the right methods, and execute them in a user-friendly and easy way; losing weight is really not difficult at all.

Faith in Health

Some people believe in religion, some in power, some in wealth, and some in knowledge.

I've always believed that faith, whether temporary or permanent, is innocent, just as I've always deeply believed that being fat is not a sin.

Having practiced medicine for over 20 years and come into contact with hundreds of thousands of people, I remember how shy they were when they first recounted their medical history. But as they gradually lost weight, confident smiles began to bloom on their faces. Those radiant smiles are my greatest achievement.

However, I always remind them: be careful of getting fat around your belly, really change your eating habits, exercise more, and health comes first.

Because I have always firmly believed, and have always hoped, that health is our most enduring faith.

Do you want this to be your back view?

I hope everyone who needs to lose weight

Everyone can lose weight happily.

Chapter 1

Yay! A cocktail, not alcohol!

Cocktail therapy you should know

The "cocktail weight loss therapy" combines "exercise prescriptions," "eating habit changes," and "drug therapy," and is essentially a customized "hybrid weight loss therapy."

There are only two ways to completely prevent weight regain: change your eating habits and exercise appropriately.

Origin of the cocktail name

Many people are interested in the origin of the name "cocktail therapy." Many patients who come to see me for the first time think that "cocktail therapy" means drinking cocktails. After receiving my prescription, many people will ask me, "Isn't it something to drink?"

I named this weight loss method, suitable for Chinese people, "cocktail therapy." It was just a spur-of-the-moment idea; it didn't have any special meaning, and of course, I didn't have any expert guidance. In fact, until I went abroad to study, I didn't even know what a "cocktail" was!

I am from Keelung, Taipei, China. My family was very poor when I was a child, and my living environment was not good. I had never seen the world and had never even eaten Western food. When I graduated from Chung Shan Medical College and was awarded a government scholarship to study in the United States, some of the popular majors were already full, leaving only the less popular endocrinology. In order to fulfill my dream of studying abroad, I had no choice but to study endocrinology.

When I arrived in the United States, I had my first meal with a professor (it was my first time eating Western food, and I was so naive that I didn't even know how to use a knife and fork). Seeing my nervousness, the professor said, "Don't worry," and gestured for me to follow his actions. I did, first drinking a very delicious beverage, which the professor told me was called a "cocktail." Later, after I developed a "hybrid weight loss therapy," a thought struck me: wouldn't it be wonderful if weight loss could be as delicious and easy as that cocktail I had just drunk? Cocktails are typically consumed before meals, and some weight loss medications are also taken before meals, primarily to help break down starches and fats and prevent their absorption, allowing dieters to achieve their goals while enjoying a normal diet. Therefore, I named my "hybrid weight loss therapy" the "cocktail weight loss therapy," just as cocktails are made by mixing various alcoholic beverages.
